Enrollment Policies

Dr. Lang’s Chinese Bilingual School admits students into its morning Pre-kindergarten program who are between 3 to 4 years old. Children who are 5 are enrolled in full-day Kindergarten Program.  Children who pass the Reading Readiness Test and are 5 years old or older by September 1 may enroll in ABC’s First grade. Children who are 6 years old and above are diagnosed individually and prescribed course work according to their true performance level rather than age/grade level.

Children whose mother tongue is not English must be tested to show English speaking and reading proficiency equivalent to their grade level before being admitted into the ACE program. Those who have low proficiency in English will be placed in the special ESOL classes until their listening, speaking and reading skills are significantly improved to a satisfactory level.

Practical Information

Ø Even though Dr. Lang’s Chinese Bilingual School uses a Christian curriculum, we welcome and accept

children from both Christian and non-Christian families.

Ø The tuition fee does not cover lunches, the school uniform, snacks and drinks that children buy on field trips.  Transportation to school on the school bus routes is partially subsidized.

Ø       The regular school hours are from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Ø       It’s not mandatory but recommended that the students stay to attend the extended after school Chinese program from 3:00 to 5:00, which is free of charge except for textbooks and supplies.

Ø       Currently there is a bus route that picks up children along Highway 141/Peachtree Parkway and Peachtree Industrial Blvd northbound. Then on the return trip, southbound. Bus tickets should be purchased in advance to take the school bus.

Ø      LUNCH: Children must bring their own lunch, which can be heated in a microwave oven.  Although we do not impose specific food restrictions, we do ask that families provide healthy and sufficient lunches and snack for their children. We do not allow chocolate, candies, bubble gums, soda beverages as part of any child’s lunch content.

Ø      The uniform is mandatory for all students every day.  It is the parent’s responsibility to purchase the  uniform online from French Toast.

Ø    Before enrolling in Dr. Lang’s Chinese Bilingual School, Academy, new students must take the diagnostic tests to determine their true performance level in every subject.  Students will be prescribed curriculum according to the results of this test rather than their age or grade. All transfer students may not be started above their chronological grade level. Any gaps in the student’s academic past, will be prescribed gap PACE’s before the student will be allowed to begin their “beginning grade.”

Ø    To help ensure mastery learning a minimum score of 80% on PACE tests is required before a student is allowed to advance to the next PACE (a workbook containing a unit of curriculum).
