Dear Friends,
New information about the Philippine Church has come in.
Attached to this email you will find two pictures that I received from the church elder yesterday. These pictures show the existing church and the much needed roof. I would venture to say that there wouldn’t be many of us that would even attend a church with such crude worship conditions. This is only one of many such churches that need funds from a very poor membership, to complete a roofing project.
Again, I am not suggesting that one person or one church come up with all of the funding to help put a roof on this church. I am putting forth a means of getting the funds together to help in this project.
Have prepared on one designated Sabbath, a covered container with a large opening for monies to be deposited. Have on the outside of the container, these pictures, with the statement, “Help fund the roofing materials for this church!” Then, place the container in the lobby or Fourier of the church. Have an ordinary young person that is touched with the needs of this church to make an announcement to the congregation about how they could fund the purchase of the much needed roofing materials. The members of the church would use the materials to do the construction themselves. No amount is too small if God has impressed you to give. This way, children and adults alike can give as God directs them. Any denomination of coin or currency will be used to help this needy church, one of many in the Philippines, put a roof on their structure, so that they can worship in the dry.
It is true that our churches are of late, having financial stress as well, but just as God said that we are to give to our church, we are to do unto others as we would have them to do to us. We are to be good Samaritans. I am sure that if our church were in need as this church is, that we would want help also. I am also under the conviction that if we help others in their need, God will help us in our need.
I know that some of you have stated in my past appeal, that the financial board of the church, has stated that they do not want to participate in this outreach, but the financial board does not represent the true thoughts of the church body. Are we to be as the Catholic church and make decisions for our church members? The widow woman with the mite would not have been recognized by the governing church of the time, for she was poor, but Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, made mention of her actions to all that were hearing him.
Please do God the privilege of allowing Him to control the hearts of his people, the church, for in so doing they will get a fresh sense of the urgent need of the church. Also, only those that are impressed to give to this need will do so. I would go as far as saying that you should make two or three containers and place them in the Fourier. Make one for this project need, one for the church budget and one for the Christian School. If you do not have a Christian School, then you can donate the proceeds to Triple A Academy in Atlanta, GA.
I believe that we as a Church need to begin to have a vision of Faith practices such as did the early church, George Mueller, Hudson Taylor and Dwight L. Moody, and as did many other church fathers of Faith.
God teaches Faith practices a step at a time. And as with the widow’s mite, a penny at a time will propagate faith in the giver that will spring up into everlasting life and great faith. We don’t achieve great faith by one day doing great deeds of faith. This faith is cultivated in our minds step by step.
Please help yourselves financially by helping this Philippine church simply to put a roof on their church.
