Who is God?

A study designed to give a positive reference to Who is God?

This study was given to five of our ESOL students in Atlanta GA, @ CELESC, due to one student giving an answer in my class about Christianity. This student said "I do not know you God is, but I would like to know." This study took five weeks and there was more information given in class than is on this website but I felt that this study would need to be on the site for others to view. If this study blesses you, then email me and let me know!

Study Outline!

If you were to say, who is Terry Hinchey? You would have to have a little more than “I am he” to prove I am Terry. But to take my word for it, being a stranger to me, you would have to “Just believe that I am he” or have several things that could be used to prove that I am indeed Terry. Things like a birth certificate, maybe some photos and some testimonials from my friends.

If you were to say, Who is God? The same proofs may come to mind. The object of this study is not to prove who God is, for I do not believe that any person can prove whom God is, but from the things presented here you will have an assurance that you do know that there is God and in turn know  who God is.

Without any use of the Scripture, The Holy Bible, The Word of God one might think, “How can I prove that God exists?” The answer is obvious and it is all around us.

1.     The air that we breathe came from somewhere!

2.     The water that we drink came from somewhere!

3.     The food that we eat came from somewhere!

4.     The senses that we have came from somewhere!

a.     Tasting

b.    Smelling

c.     Seeing

d.    Hearing

e.     Touching

5.     The light that we have came from somewhere!

6.     The stars that we see in there precise arrangement came from somewhere!

7.     The moon that we see at night came from somewhere!

8.     The trees that we see and use for building shelters came from somewhere!

9.     The animals that we see and enjoy came from somewhere!

10. The rocks that we have around us came from somewhere!

11. The intelligence that we claim to have came from somewhere!

12. The love and care that we have for our family came from somewhere!

13. The ability to think and use our hands came from somewhere!

14. The desire that we have to help others came from somewhere!

15. The need to be a part of other people’s lives came from somewhere!

16. The hope that we have of life after death came from somewhere!

17.  The say that there is no God indicates a life without hope and we then become a race of most miserable people.

We could keep going making statements and asking these and other questions related to the need to know “Who is God?” But by the fact that we asked the question means that we at least foster the idea that there could be a God. Even a so called atheist has a slight belief that there is a God, otherwise they would not be as persistent that there is not a God. Later we will be able to see from a book of truth, that even the devils believe that there is a God.

When coming into community with people of other countries, no matter how primitive, they have a sense of understanding that there is a God. They believe in a God. Some people “worship” gods of material worth, such as one’s car or house. Others worship other people as a god, even though these people die and go back into the ground, just like everyone who has gone before them, except for one, who him self claimed to be God manifested in the flesh.

Other than the evident things that we listed above, what else can we do to substantiate the fact that there is a God? If we only had some facts that were proven to be true over many, many years that were spoken by God, maybe we could then believe that there is a God. The remainder of this study will tackle this notion or aspect of, “Who is God?”

There is a factual statement that we must make prior to continuing with the study and that is, “When we present enough evidence to attest to the fact that there is a God, then we will be under bondage to believe that there is a God and He then must be Worshiped as God and we must then strive to serve Him as God.” If you are not willing to make this statement, then you would be wasting your time by going ahead with the study.

If we find that God does exist, then we must do everything in our power to serve “The God”, not just “a god.” That would be a reasonable statement to make since we are on a quest to know “Who is God?” Right!

Since we have a logical thinking mind we can discover within our own thoughts and understanding, imperatives that are related to something that we could state as, “being of God!” As we consider things, we might want to take notes, so that we could reflect back on the thoughts and instances that we discover, that could be related to “God”.

There are some things that we discuss that we can make a definite logical statement of fact concerning, “Who is God” and when we do we will also be stating, “Who God is not!”
